Family Policy Council – Adverse Childhood Experiences

The Collaborative initially worked with leadership at the Family Policy Council in Washington state to explore the ACE research done by Vincent Felitti and Martin Teicher from a systems perspective.

The result was a clear conclusion that interventions in this area have strong potential to be high leverage points for society. Reducing and/or treating the number of people with high ACE scores would increase productivity, to decrease chronic health issues, and related costs, not to mention alleviate the suffering of so many.

Though it is a complex situation politically, it is an area we would very much like to continue work to make a meaningful difference. Recent work in Minnesota with the Department of Health has signaled a interest in working across agencies to develop policies that might make a difference. Click below for an executive overview of ACE strategy there.
